SayHo · Last updated 22 July 2026
SayHo helps you learn a language by shadowing — speaking along with real audio — and by saving vocabulary. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what stays on your device, and who else is involved.
SayHo is operated by Iron Mind Studios ("we", "us"). You can reach us at minjoo@ironmindstudios.com.
Some of the most sensitive things the app touches never reach us at all:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and a user ID, from Sign in with Apple or Google | To create your account and restore your library on a new device |
| Your saved words, folders, lessons, streaks and progress | To sync and back up your learning across devices |
| Text you scan, type, or that appears in lesson transcripts | To generate meanings, examples, and grammar explanations |
| Decks you choose to share, and reports you submit | To make a shared deck retrievable by its code, and to review reported content |
You can use SayHo without an account. In that case a temporary anonymous session is created so your progress works; if you later sign in, that progress is linked to your account.
To score your shadowing, the app transcribes what you say using Apple's Speech framework. Depending on your device, language, and settings, Apple may process that audio on their servers rather than on the device. That processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive only the resulting text, and we do not store your audio.
We use a small number of providers to run the service:
If you choose to share a vocabulary folder, its name and cards are stored on our servers and can be retrieved by anyone who has the eight-character code you give them. Shared decks are not listed, searchable, or browsable — a deck can only be opened with its exact code.
You can stop sharing at any time from the folder's menu, which permanently disables that code. Note that anyone who already imported the deck keeps their own copy, because it became their words.
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app — open Settings and choose Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and the learning data associated with it, and it cannot be undone.
Decks you published are removed when you revoke them or delete your account. Reports you submitted may be retained after deletion so we can act on them, since they concern other people's content.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. The in-app account deletion covers deletion directly; for anything else, contact us at minjoo@ironmindstudios.com and we will respond within the time your local law requires.
SayHo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
